I had to write a project proposal recently that involved learning about qualitative research methodology. I know this is an unusual topic for a blog entry, but writing stuff down always helps me synthesize information and unfortunately for you, poor, unlucky reader, I quite like this on-line mechanism of Getting It All Out. I used to write a lot with pen and paper when I was younger (tear-stained diaries and whatnot) but I now find that I compose far more fluently when I type directly on-screen. I can transmit my thoughts more rapidly (I am a fast - translation: illegible - handwriter but a quicker, albeit two-fingered, typist) and editing is so much simpler. And my wrist doesn't ache afterwards. So, here goes...

I've mentioned before that autumn is my favourite season - I love this time of year; the colours of the leaves, the horrible weather (really! There's just so much happening - I despise 'nothing' weather), the nights getting longer, and the smell of firesmoke in the air. It's cosy and lovely and interesting and full of life, and makes me want to cook and wear my woolly jumpers and go for nice walks.
Cambridge is beautiful in autumn; it has an abundance of parks and trees, and is just a joy to stroll around. The students are all back at university, there are bikes everywhere again (motorists get so cocky during the summer while the students are away, but the roads are reclaimed by the cyclists come autumn), and there are so many talks and events going on (many of them free!). So, here are some nice Cambridge autumn pictures: I've been wanting to write a proper entry for SO long that now that I've got the chance, I feel quite incapable of doing so...isn't that funny?! I've been gallivanting around for the past month or two and I couldn't wait to be able to sit down and think and write - there have been so many things that need to be shared! - but right now, I can't think of anything interesting to say. However! The best cure for writer's block is to just write, so that's what I'm going to do...I'm going to tell you all about what's been happening and maybe it'll all come together at the end. We'll see...

About my blog
Really, it contains a little bit of everything, from a celebration of science and the English language to the joys of travel and the Shipping Forecast. The title ('Meanderings') is a fairly accurate description of its content: I write about different things as the mood takes me, but hopefully there's something in here for everyone... Categories
