I've had a lovely few days, even though our tree lights had to be replaced yesterday and I've had a miserable cold so I couldn't taste any of my Christmas dinner apart from lemon, randomly. I hope you're all enjoying the holidays, and here's to a wonderful 2016!
We're now well into the Twelve Days of Christmas so I guess this is something of a belated Christmas post... the days and nights have flown by, what with all my carousing and merry-making (there has been no carousing; I'm normally in bed by 10pm). Although the weather has been distinctly unfestive, what with all the storms and wind and rain (our poor handmade, all-natural front door wreath is definitely looking the worse for wear after being battered soundly for nearly two weeks), it's felt lovely and almost - dare I say it? - serene this year. Everywhere has been nice and quiet and people just seem far more relaxed than in previous years - or maybe it's me, because I've avoided nearly all of the Christmas panic by mainly shopping online (I know, I'm terrible), and also, we haven't had to travel this year. [The only thing that's made me kind of sad is that Christmas seems to end on Christmas Eve now, with several major retailers - you know who you are - dismantling their decorations and replacing them with sale signs BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY, which is simply criminal. Come on, people! That is so not in keeping with the festive season.]

About my blog
Really, it contains a little bit of everything, from a celebration of science and the English language to the joys of travel and the Shipping Forecast. The title ('Meanderings') is a fairly accurate description of its content: I write about different things as the mood takes me, but hopefully there's something in here for everyone... Categories
